Amidst the
major global leader’s voices coming together for the Global Investors Summit in
Indore, voices of a different kind were heard at auditions at different
colleges in Indore. ‘Voice of Indore’, popularly known as VOI, a flagship event
hosted by the Indian Institute of Management Indore conducted auditions across colleges in Indore
to search the best voice in Indore. With the upcoming annual management and
cultural fest of IIM Indore, IRIS 2014 already setting the momentum and the
hues could be seen at the round of VOI auditions that were conducted at the
Indian Institute of Technology Indore this Friday, the 10th of October
2014.
The
crescendo of voices met with the melodies of students from institutes like IIT,
Medi-Caps Institute of Science and Technology, CDGI, Maharaja Ranjit Singh
College, etc. The mix of old, new and self composed raps added a unique flavour
to the auditions of the shortlisted candidates from their respective colleges.
The contestants were judged by Anuja Zokarkar, who has aced the Indian
classical music with her upbringing in a musical family under the discipline of
renowned vocalist Vidushi Kalpana Zokarkar, her mother. Anuja, a silver-medal
winner at All India Radio in 2010, has also given voice to some commercial
albums. Her accomplishment as a singer for a Marathi movie ‘Baabu Band Baaja’
that was felicitated with the best movie at Pune International Film festival
made her a judge who could connect with the audiences of the college youth.
The commencement
of the program saw participants in full vigour with the sur and taal in perfect
match. “It was a unique experience for an IIT to be associated with such an IIM
at a large scale...” said Aditi, a contestant who added her melody to the
event. While the top three winners from this zone of auditions would meet at
the finale event of the VOI to be held during the fest on 13-15 November this
year; the day ended on a beautiful vocal of the judge Anuja, who sang on the
special demand of the huge audience after she shared her insights about the
event and the music. The curtains for the day drew on a tune that certainly
told that a tough competitive curtain shall be raised on the finale.
