The word “Iris” originates from Greek Mythology,
where IRIS was worshipped as the goddess of the Rainbow. Just as a rainbow
symbolizes transformation and rebirth, IRIS 2014 marks the rebirth of the
Legacy of IIM Indore.
IRIS started off in November 2001 as the management festival of IIM
Indore with participation from all premier b schools of India. Held in the
serene and beautiful campus of IIM Indore, Iris has been an irresistible
combination of entertainment and education since 2000. It has been the highest
points in the calendar at IIM Indore as the institute warms up itself to the
budding managers and talented minds from more than 30 esteemed B-Schools of
India. Over the years it became a celebration of the managerial acumen and a
platform to exhibit one's potential in the various facets of management.
In the year 2009, IRIS spilt off into Ahvan and Mridang. Ahvan
became IIM Indore’s management fest and Mridang the cultural festival. Ahvan
2013 witnessed participation from over 50 premier B-Schools across the nation
who battled it out across several events that tested their managerial acumen.
Some of the flagship events at Ahvan were Ashwamedha, Neetishastra, Chanakya,
Kluless, Gordian Knot and Kalpavriksha. Mridang, the annual cultural festival
made its presence felt across the state of Madhya Pradesh with its attempt to
break the World Record for the Largest Glass Mosaic. Other events such as
Lavanya (Fashion Show), Laasya (Dance), Bazinga and Distortion (Rock Show)
received participation from over 40+ B-Schools. Over the past few years,
participation in Ahvan and Mridang has increased many-folds along with the
increased involvement of several top-notch corporate houses. In 2013, IIM
Indore received participation of close to 10,000 students from more than 50
Premier B-Schools across the country. But as they say History repeats itself.
Hence this year IRIS is reborn from Ahvan and Mridang. Since the merger of the
Cultural and Management fests into one, Iris has become grander and bigger
introducing new events and carrying forward the past with grandeur and
brilliance.
Just
as the arch of the rainbow is symbolic of gateways, openings and portals,
similarly IRIS 2014 marks our entry into new territories with an amalgamation
of old and new events but on a much larger scale.
Come be a part of the biggest fest in Central
India.
Witness the Legacy of IIM Indore.
Welcome to IRIS 2014!
